May - "Put your 'house' in order" month!

I have declared May to be "put your house in order" month.

Why May? Well, all of a sudden my calendar is full of things that all have this common theme. I didn't really plan it out, but looking at what is going on at the WellNest this month that's what I saw. A great opportunity to get my house in order.

What do I mean by that? Well, there are many types of "houses."

There is your physical home. That structure you live in is important. And I personally think it should be pretty and comfortable, but what I am actually talking about for the sake of Put Your House In Order May is that of an organized mode of operation, which I think directly correlates with an organized mind. For me, that means tidy and an ease of use. I have been working hard to streamline my household. To have the right shelves, storage units, and procedures in place. And to keep my life tidy with a hint of minimalism. In short, an organized space and life is a link to happiness and to sanity. To this end, I have a couple tricks that I would love to introduce you to this month.

I also think that part of getting your house in order is knowing what you want to keep, give away, throw away and gain. Go through your house, take stock in your life. I can't really come over and help you sort your stuff. So the give away and throw away is on you. I can, however, possibly help you with the keep and the gain.

We talk a lot about spring cleaning, but we fail to talk about the fact that it is also a good time to plant seeds…and, heck, let's take this metaphor all the way to the end…to tidy up and nurture the plants we already have growing in our gardens. What do you really want in your life? We usually have so many desires running through our brains and hearts that it is hard to tell what few things we really WANT. Knowing what you want is the most important key to having it. A clear vision is as important as energetic work. I'm no expert in these matters, but I do have a neat "game" to introduce you to that I have found really helps whittle down that long list of things you want to the top five that are actually essential to your happiness. It's a REALLY simple system, but also kinda magical. Come play it with me!

We all know we have another house we live in…our bodies. A pretty important house, to be sure. My mother's entire sex ed conversation with me went like this:

Her: You know your body is a sacred temple, right?"

Me: (eating a sandwich for lunch) "Yup."

Though at the time is was a fairly funny story and didn't seem at all a comprehensive approach to the topic at hand, I now see the simple, powerful truth in what she was saying. My body is a temple. And I (and those I let into my life) should respect and adore it. Which is to say I should love it. And love is not a feeling. It is an action. Eating clean, moving my molecules, receiving bodywork, quieting my mind, sleeping well and deeply, sharing in satisfying relationships. These are ways I love myself.

Our world is inflammatory - physically and emotionally. Inflammation left unchecked becomes toxic. You can only eat so much stress, consume so many trace chemicals, be exposed to so many pathogens and interact with so much negative energy before your system reaches the tipping point. We can not completely avoid inflammatory situations - be they chemically or emotionally stressful. That is not bad. It leads to resilience. But we don't need to be martyrs to the cause. Reduce the toxic load in your environment and give yourself the tools you need to increase your resistance to the ones that remain. We've got some great recommendations on how to accomplish this!

I am a fan of having the right tools for the project. It makes all the difference. I'm excited to introduce you to some of my favorites. And I'm excited to really start building the WellNest community. Because I really believe that the best way to create uplift (prosperity) for yourself is to create it for those around you. Together, we can all rise up to the top effortlessly!

At times, the distance between where you are and where you want to be seems vast. I don't know if that is where you are, but it sure has been where I have been at for a couple months now. I know that I am supposed to be the expert, the one living the life that my clients can look towards and emulate. But I figure if so many can embrace the vulnerability of that lovely Momastery lady, then you guys can embrace mine. So there it is. I have been struggling to find my way back to my favorite bits and pieces of me. And I have been overwhelmed with the challenge of achieving my dreams. When I get this way, I like to remember that I am a fan of the first step. I don't need to think about all the steps between where I am and where I want to be. I just need to take a step or two in the right direction. And then I like to remember than it only takes 51% to make a majority. It makes the task of living my best self and turning my vision into reality seem more manageable.

And lastly, I remind myself that I don't sit in perfect pose to find enlightenment. Rather, when I sit in perfect pose, I am enlightened.

So! Come join the party! Do some inspiring (you are all inspirational in your own way, with your own story) and be inspired. It takes a village to raise up good humans. And I for one, appreciate the help you give me in so many ways. Peace and good things.
